Frequently Asked Questions

Answers about water damage, mold remediation, licenses, insurance claims and storm recovery from ABS Restoration Services in South Louisiana.

How do I reach ABS Restoration Services?

Call or text (225) 978-8099 any time, day or night. If we miss your call, leave a message and we will call you back as soon as we can.

Are you licensed for mold remediation?

Yes. We hold a Louisiana Mold Remediator License #250624 (active through September 15, 2027), Florida Mold Remediation Contractor license MRSR5233, and Texas Mold Remediation Contractor license MRC-1518.

Where are you located and what areas do you serve?

Our office is at 17210 N Lakeway Ave, Baton Rouge, LA 70810. We serve South Louisiana.

Do you work on homes and businesses?

Both. We handle residential and commercial properties, from a single condominium unit to large industrial buildings.

What services do you offer?

Water damage restoration, gutting and demolition, cleaning, structural drying, mold remediation, storm, hurricane and flood recovery, moisture source assessment, insurance claim support, and permanent dehumidification equipment installations. When our schedule allows, we also handle rebuild repairs. Just ask.

Can you help with my insurance claim?

Yes. We work with insurance and non-insurance jobs. For insurance jobs we speak directly with your adjuster and submit our Xactimate estimates and paperwork to you and to the insurance company. Your insurance company decides what your policy covers.

What should I do first after water gets into my property?

Stay safe and avoid standing water and downed power lines. Take photos of the damage before you move anything. Call your insurance company, then call us at (225) 978-8099. The sooner drying starts, the better.

Why does water damage need to be dried quickly?

Wet building materials can grow mold, especially in Louisiana's heat and humidity. Starting to dry early helps limit the damage.

Do you offer free mold inspections after storms?

Yes. We offer free mold inspections during or just after storm events. We use moisture meters and a visual inspection. This is not a lab mold test.

Do you do mold testing?

No. Because testing and remediation by the same company is a conflict of interest, we do not perform mold testing. We are glad to recommend independent mold testing companies.

How do you know the property is dry?

We take moisture readings before, during and after our work, and we monitor our drying equipment until the property is dry.

Do you do rebuild repairs?

When our schedule allows, we also handle rebuild repairs. Just ask. During a hurricane, our crew focuses on gutting, cleaning, drying and mitigation.

What is an attic desiccant dehumidifier?

It is a permanent dehumidifier mounted in your attic that removes moisture from the air. A humidistat controls it, and the humidistat can be controlled from your phone. Call us for a quote on a permanent installation.

How long have you been in business?

Since 1991. We have completed more than 5,000 properties across South Louisiana.
